Strength and Service - Event Rules/Weights

Axle Clean and Press Away

Competitors will clean an axle bar from the floor (once) and press away for as many reps as possible within 60 seconds. The bar will begin from the floor on bumper plates. During the clean, the bar may at no point rest on the athlete’s belt, if a belt is worn. Lift is successful upon knees, hips, shoulders and elbows extended with axle overhead. Feet must be even, with control of the implement shown. Athlete must wait for a “down” command to be given by the head judge before attempt is considered successful. The axle bar will not be required to be cleaned each rep, and instead may be pressed away from the “front rack” position for as many reps as possible.

Athletes will be allowed to re-clean/re-attempt implement as many times as desired within their 60 second time limit. Belts, wraps, sleeves, chalk, and grip shirts allowed. No tacky or gloves allowed.

  • Lightweight Men: 165lb

  • Middleweight Men: 185lb

  • Heavyweight Men: 225lb

Car Deadlift:

Rear tires of vehicle will be loaded onto back of deadlift frame. Frame offers side handles, with no front handles. Athlete will lift frame until knees and hips are extended. Athlete will be given a “down” command by head judge. Reps will not be counted if athlete does not wait for “down” command. “Touch-and-go”/bouncing of frame is allowed, resetting at bottom position is not required. Frame is elevated on 4” wooden black. Handles are estimated at 18” off ground. 60 second time limit.

  • Lightweight Men: Toyota Camry

  • Middleweight Men: Toyota Camry + 90lb

  • Heavyweight Men: Toyota Camry + 180lb

Conan’s Wheel:

Athlete will carry end of Conan’s Wheel in “Zercher” position in a fixed circle for distance. Belts, wraps, sleeves, chalk, and grip shirts allowed. 60 second time limit, no drops allowed.

  • Lightweight Men: 230lb

  • Middleweight Men: 280lb

  • Heavyweight Men: 320lb

Sandbag (3) Carry and Load Medley

Athletes will carry a series of 3 ascending-weight sandbags 35’ and load onto a platform. Athletes must front-carry the implements, shouldering of the implements will not be allowed. Time ends once last sandbag is loaded to platform. Furthest distance is recorded in the event athlete is unable to complete the series. Belts, wraps, sleeves, chalk, gloves, and grip shirts allowed. No tacky allowed.

  • Lightweight Men: 132lb, 176lb, 220lb

  • Middleweight Men: 176lb, 220lb, 265lb

  • Heavyweight Men: 220lb, 265lb, 309lb

Truck Pull (Harness):

Athletes will be strapped into harness, pulling a Type 6 Engine presented by the Flagstaff Fire Department for a distance of 50’.

  • Lightweight Men: Type 6 Engine + 1 Power Sloth

  • Middleweight Men: Type 6 Engine + 2 Power Sloths

  • Heavyweight Men: Type 6 Engine + 3 Power Sloth
